Paul Hooser, PGA

Director of Golf Course Management, Western Division

Paul is a 27-year member of the PGA of America, he has served in the capacity of Assistant Golf Professional, Head Golf Professional and General Manager at several midwestern golf facilities. The recipient of many professional awards including: 1994 Midwest PGA Section “Teacher of the Year”, 1997, 2004 and 2007 Midwest PGA Section “Club Fitter of the Year”, 1998 & 1993 Midwest PGA Section “Merchandiser of the Year” and 1999 Midwest PGA Section “Golf Professional of the Year”. He is an owner/operator of a golf shop that has been nominated for “America’s Top 100 Golf Shops” as it appears in trade journals. Paul has trained and mentored over 250 employees. Currently he supervises a staff of three assistant golf professionals, golf shop support staff and cart room employees. He offers an instructional program that includes individual instruction, junior golf camps, clinics for men and ladies and specializes in the short game of golf. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Parks and Recreation Administration from The University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri.

Donavon Maney

Donny has twelve years experience in the golf industry with an extensive background in construction, sales and customer service. He has extensive knowledge of tournament operations and outside services. Donny worked for the Executive Director of the Midwest Section PGA at one of the leading courses in the Midwest as service manager. Assisted as a golf instructor with a Native junior golf program teaching golf etiquette, proper golf fundamentals and life skills. He has a degree in Computer Information Systems from Haskell Nations University, Lawrence, Kansas.

Steve is a 25-year member of the PGA of America, he has held positions as Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf Instruction, Director of Golf and General Manager at various golf facilities across the United States. Steve has assisted with the construction of three golf courses, Addison Reserve, Del Ray Beach, Florida, The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes, Orlando, Florida, and Colly Creek, Topeka, Kansas.  Steve is the Director of Golf for the Native American Sports Council, and Director of Instruction at Lake Shawnee Golf Course. Recently Steve served as the Commissioner of Golf for the 2006 North American Indigenous Games, Denver, Colorado. Steve is on the Board of Directors for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Boys & Girls Club located on the Potawatomi Reservation, and serves as Secretary on the First Nations Golf Association’s Board of Directors. An accomplished professional golfer, Steve has won over 25 sanctioned PGA section tournaments and has won five times on the First Nations Golf Association Tour, including the 2006 FNGA Open Championship, the 2006 FNGA All-Indian Tour Championship, the 2008 FNGA Coast Salish Open, the 2008 FNGA Oneida Warrior Open and the 2008 FNGA Senior Open Championship. Steve has twice been named "Player of the Year" for the FNGA Tour in 2006 and 2008. While attending Haskell Nations University, Lawrence KS Steve was a four-sport lettermen in football, baseball, basketball and golf. Steve has a degree in Business Administration from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas.

Demando Mingo, PGA

Demando has 12 years of extensive experience in the golf industry. This includes seven years as an assistant golf professional at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club at the Pearl River Resort, located in central Mississippi. Demando trains new employees regarding customer service, books events, conducts golf outings, golf clinics, and manages the outside service staff. Currently, enrolled in his fourth year with the Gulf States PGA program, Demando, successfully plays in many PGA Gulf States Section events and earned a spot on the 2006 Gulf States PGA “Cup Team”. Recently, Demando won his first tournament on the First Nations Golf Association Tour, as he captured the 2008 Seminole Hard Rock Championship. Demando is committed to promoting golf throughout Indian Country, as he is only one of a handful of Native PGA golf professionals throughout the United States. He works with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Boys & Girls Club and other organizations to help grow the game of golf.  He believes that through the game of golf, that our youth will be the true benefactors of honesty, integrity and the life lessons that the game of golf teaches.

Cheryl Mitchell

Cheryl has been playing golf for most of her life. She is a member of the FUTURES Tour and CN Women’s Tour and is North Americas First Native Female Golf Professional. As a junior golfer, she won several tournaments including the Canadian Junior Optimist, which she won three times. In 1998 she was named Walpole Island First Nation Athlete of the Year. Cheryl attended Kent State and Oakland University on golf scholarships from 1999-2003 were she won several tournaments. She was named to All-Mac First Team twice at Kent State University and Mid-Con 1st Team Selection twice at Oakland University. Cheryl also won the 2003 Ontario Women’s Amateur Championship. As the first Native female professional golfer Cheryl has placed 5th in the 2005 RCGA Women’s Tour Championship, tied for 3rd at the 2006 Canadian PGA Women’s Championship, tied for 6th at the 2006 Canadian Women’s Tour Event at Settler Ghost Golf Club, tied for 6th at the Canadian Women’s Tour Event at Ottawa Hunt Club and qualified for CN Canadian Women’s Open at London Hunt Club an LPGA event. Cheryl has a B.A. degree in Psychology from Oakland University (2002) and is currently enrolled in a Master’s in Counseling program at Oakland University with a G.P.A. of 3.91,  She is also a member of Chi Sigma Iota Professional Counseling Honor Society.

Mitch Osceola

Mitch has over 20-years experience in golf. Mitch has devoted countless hours to promoting and organizing golf for his people – The Seminole Tribe of Florida. He received an A.A. degree in Golf Management from the San Diego Golf Academy located in Orlando Florida and has 15 years experience managing and directing every aspect of golf, including local tribal tournaments, budgets, contract reviews, mentoring and golf instruction. Mitch is highly respected by his tribe and takes great pride regarding the sport of golf in the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s community and is very proud of his beautiful family, wife Brett and three sons Ryan, Conchade’ and Byron.

Jayson Ray

Jayson has 18 years experience in the golf industry. In 2002, Jayson founded the First Nations Golf Association, FNGA, a federally recognized non-profit 501(c) 3 organization which conducts an All-Indian-Native Professional Golf Tour with events held at several of Indian Country’s premiere golf facilities.  He serves as Executive Director of the FNGA and has been instrumental in developing the FNGA Scholarship Foundation and a Junior Golf Instructional Program. Jayson's dedication to Indian Country has led him to raised over $600K for the FNGA organization, $500K of which has been given back to Indian athletes, scholarship awards and youth golf clinics. Jayson has an extensive background in construction and Internet Technology / Computer Programming. He currently oversees construction for Ha-Sho-Be Golf, LLC at the D'Molo Golf Course at Agency Lake, OR and recently won his first tournament on the FNGA Tour the 2008 FNGA All-Indian Tour Championship. Jayson has a Bachelor of Science Degree as a Computer Systems Engineer Technologist from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and the Oregon Institute of Technology, Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Steve has 12 years' experience as a Professional Golfer and Teaching Professional. He has been involved with Native North American Golf for the past ten years in the areas of golf promotions and golf management with an emphasis in public relations and communications. He has organized many North American National golf events, most recently being a Tournament Director for the 2006 North American Indigenous Games, held in Denver, Colorado.  He is a dedicated and hard working member of the First Nations Golf Association Board of Directors.
